In an effort to put forth the most effective promotional DVD in their community, the Defense Institute of International Legal Studies turned to ASFT. The subject of the promotional spot was a weeklong class, "Legal Aspects of Combating Terrorism," featuring an international body of students and instructors. ASFT filmed classroom sessions, social events, and an awards session, and interviewed course staff. In addition, ASFT collected trip photographs from students and staff. The short production highlights aspects of the course material, conveys the friendships and bonds formed, and illustrates the importance of having an international student body. By using a variety of digital effects and post production techniques, ASFT was able to create a final product that is informative, entertaining, and attractive. In addition to production and post-production efforts, ASFT managed distribution, producing and replicating professionally labeled DVDs, and publishing the video in QuickTime and Windows Media formats for online viewing.
"ASFT was able to integrate video and animation seamlessly into our website." Sean McCormick, President of Ifficient Interactive, knew that if his business was going to target web and mobile advertisers, his own company's site had to shine. To start the site off with a bang, ASFT filmed and produced an opening sequence featuring an employee writing a question on a whiteboard, followed by an increasingly rapid succession of panning that reveals challenging questions faced by Ifficient customers, and ending with the original question changing from "do you...?" to "shouldn't you?" ASFT used
handwriting capture techniques, compositing and
digital editing software to create the panning effect.
Adobe Flash and dynamic HTML allowed ASFT to
integrate this into a website that blurs the lines
between video and text, without sacrificing fast
site navigation.
