Product Integrity > Logistics Engineering

"I consider this to be the premier logistics team." That's what a United States Navy sponsor had to say about ASFT's application of logistics engineering services to a variety of submarine systems. "At ASFT, the Logistics Engineering discipline is embodied in a cradle-to-grave process that ensures system sustainability and supportability throughout the life cycle of each supported system," says Richard Gartmayer, Technical Area Manager for Product Integrity.

ASFT has extended its logistics expertise across virtually all functional areas of submarine electronics and sensor systems. Systems include Non-Propulsion Electronic Systems, Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems, Acoustic Towed Array Systems, Combat Systems, Communications Systems, Weapon Control Systems, Tactical Control Systems, and Unmanned Undersea Vehicles.

Using provisioning and readiness-based sparing models, ASFT personnel are able to successfully determine the optimum on-board repairs parts load-out for each Submarine Combat Control System variant. Using the System for Improved Reliability of Towed Systems (SIRTS), ASFT personnel are instrumental in analyzing and identifying the cause of a rampant failure of a key acoustic systems component, the "OA-9070 universal slip rings and pendant cables." Certified personnel develop Reliability Centered Maintenance products including Reliability Block Diagrams, "Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analyses," and the assessment of preventive and predictive maintenance on system performance. ASFT logisticians developed the complete supportability requirements documentation for the Mission Reconfigurable Unmanned Undersea Vehicle System, a major acquisition program, for the Naval Sea Systems Command.
