April 14, 2008

Advanced Solutions for Tomorrow Inc. has won a five-year, $49 million contract to support submarine programs at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC), the company said today. Most of the work will be completed at the company's Newport, RI offices.

"Yes, the local work force will need to be expanded to accommodate this contract," a spokesperson for the Georgia-based firm commented. "ASFT's Rhode Island office currently employs 100 people," she said, out of "an overall employee number of 120."

The contract calls for ASFT to provide engineering and technical services related to the procurement and installation of hardware for a combat system technology test bed. ASFT and its partners will support the integration and engineering analysis for beta products that will enhance the test bed's capability to accommodate future submarine technologies.

"This contract will allow us to develop product assurance processes for approved prototypes in the areas of configuration management, integrated logistics support, reliability, maintainability and availability, and human-system integration," Anjan Dutta-Gupta, the company's founder and president, said in a statement today. "We are gratified that our demonstrated record of success has allowed us to continue serving as a provider of vital services to the U.S. Navy, and look forward to working with the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in implementing these new capabilities."
